Martha Pickerill
Managing Editor, TIME for Kids
Martha Pickerill came to TIME Inc. in 1995 to join the launch team of TIME For Kids. Earlier, Ms. Pickerill worked for Children's Television Workshop on the staff of the multimedia literacy project “Ghostwriter;” and for Kid City magazine, a general interest magazine for kids, ages 7 – 13, where three of her articles won Educational Press Association Distinguished.
Pickerill’s 20-year career in magazine journalism includes positions at Vogue, Whittle Communications and Health magazine. At Whittle Communications, she was an Associate Editor of Parenting Advisor, a service magazine for young families distributed through pediatricians' offices. For Parenting Advisor, she reported and wrote about children's health, education and psychology, with a focus on practical advice to help parents cope with their growing children.
At TIME For Kids, Pickerill oversees magazines for children at three different reading levels: K-1, 2-3 and 4-6. Her work at TIME For Kids has won multiple Educational Press Association Distinguished Achievement Awards.
She is a trustee of the Center for Social and Emotional Education, a nonprofit group that aims to improve a school’s climate by supporting social and emotional learning to enhance academic instruction. Pickerill’s writing has appeared in Nickelodeon, TIME and other national magazines."
Ms. Pickerill resides in Hoboken, New Jersey, with her husband and 5-year old daughter Alice.
